On November 16, 2014, the ARCS Phoenix Chapter held its inaugural Fall Speaker Series with a fascinating presentation on recent developments in the prevention, detection and treatment of concussions, especially in sports. Guest speakers included Dr. Javier Cardenas, director of the Barrow Concussion and Brain Injury Center as well as of the Barrow Concussion Network; Dr. Tamara C. Valovich McLeod, professor and director of the Arizona State University athletic training program; and Perry Edinger, PA and ATC, Phoenix Children's Hospital Orthopedics, and NFL and ASU concussion spotter. The presentation was followed by a sumptuous brunch buffet.
What our ARCS Phoenix Scholars Are Saying...
"I was very appreciative of the ARCS dinner in Phoenix. It is rare that a student gets to personally meet and thank those who contributed to an award. Because the award is unlike most funding, I continue to be proud of my ARCS Scholar Award. Even after all these years, I still list it on my resume under "Honors and Awards."
